Wells and Betty met at a dance. She was with a married couple and Wells asked them if she could dance. They indicated he should ask her. They were quick to fall in love and it is no exaggeration that "Love is blind!"

Betty reported to her aunt, " I met the man I am going to marry! He has the most beautiful brown eyes." It was a family joke as Dad's eyes were blue and she did not really care about the color of his eyes or anything else but that they loved one another.

They made a rather unusual prenuptial agreement. Dad was a self proclaimed atheist and Betty was a Baptist. He promised her he would not tell us there was no God if she would not tell us there was a God.

It gave us an empty platform to build our faith on as we grew. There was evidence of religion in the schools and communities when we grew up. Wells'parents were Pentecostal. His father was a minister and his mother the organist. They frequently took us to Sunday School and church.

Wells F. Garvin was a radar instructor on Wart Island off Corpus Christi, Texas in WWII.

in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Wells Freeman Garvin and Bette Jeanne Fuggitt had five children: Donna Jeanne Boyd, Carol Ann Freeman, William Freeman Garvin, Michael Kelly Garvin and Kathy Lynn Garvin.

Donna married Theodore Edward Boyd December 7, 1957.
They had two children:

Victoria Katherine Boyd
who married Roger Daniel Grechus.
They had Joshua Daniel Grechus and Jessie Dee Grechus.

Theodore Lawrence Boyd
who married Kay Christine Boyd

Carol Ann Garvin married David Freeman
They had David Freeman and Eric Freeman

Carol later married Earl McVay. They
make their home at Waterwood
near Huntsville, Texas.

William Freeman Garvin married Dana.
They had Michelle who married Ron Gorelle.
Their daughter is Shelby.

Michael Kelly Garvin married Sheila Brown.
They had no children. Kelly died apparently
of a drug overdose.

Kathy Lynn Garvin lives in Kansas City, Missouri.
As of September 2001, she has not married.

Wells never remarried. He and Kelly had a home together. Wells later lived with Bill, Danna and Michelle.

Wells lost his retirement savings trying the slot car business just as it was phasing out.

He worked and puttered with various companies and finally found a comfortable niche in the weekly flea market at a local drive-in.

Wells died in a veteran's hospital of throat cancer.

Betty later married Lawrence Y. Savercool.
They lived in White River, Arizona until
Betty was killed by a drunk driver in 1981.
